Pastor John is a die-hard “sucks” devotee

Nairobi -A Nairobi Church is split over the recent use of the word ‘sucks’ by its youth pastor John Mkubwa during an interview with local TV station.

After the interview the executive pastor Omondi immediately called Pastor asking him “what on earth are you doing?” on his defense John said “Its relating to the younger generation”

The church members are evenly divided over whether the word “sucks” is appropriate or not.

“I don’t think twice about it,” says the youth pastor John who uses it commonly with youth. He has bonded with lost generation on facebook and twitter by using the word.
“When you can freely say something sucks, it feels good. It’s like letting your heart out,” he says John.

But executive pastor finds it offensive, “Do people know what it means?” says Omondi incredulously. “I don’t care if everyone says it. It’s beneath us; let no unclean words proceed from your mouth.”

Karaoke loving, ever milling, always happy youth pastor John who is favorite among the youth and a die-hard “sucks” devotee, responded one time by uploading photo of a vacuum cleaner on facebook and said “That simply sucks!”

The executive pastor Omondi insisted that no church member use the word, especially during ministry. He suggested alternatives like “that stinks” and “that’s terrible.”

“That sounds like you are just afraid of saying sucks dad” said Pastor Omondi’s little daughter Tabitha Musya
